Questions about The Witches

1. How would you have tricked the witches? Which of their weaknesses would you have played on? Could you come up with a plan better than the narrator's?

2. Grandmamma sure is chatty when it comes to witch-related information. What would have happened if she had never told our narrator all about witches?

3. Other than his starring role in a Roald Dahl book, what do you admire most about the narrator? Why?

Hi Mr. B
In the book The Witches I think that one of the witches weakness's is the smell of children. I think that is their weakness because they can't stand the smell of children, even though that it is a good thing for them because, they hate children. The trick that I would play on the witches with this weakness is put a bunch of kids outside a door and when the kids hear the witches coming towards the door they would run away fast and hide. (Question 1)
If Grandmamma hadn’t told the narrator about the witches he would have thought that he was in a ball room with a bunch of crazy old ladies that wanted to get rid of the kids from England. The narrator would have been taken by them and turned into a mouse and killed and even worse fried him to his death with fire. But the narrator still got turned into a mouse but the good thing is that he didn’t get killed.(Question 2)
The thing that I admire most about the narrator is that he was daring. The reason why I admire this so much about the narrator is that he was a little boy and little boys in stories are usually daring and crazy. One reason that I can say he was daring was when he went into the witch’s room when he was a mouse and went looking for the Mouse Potion. (Question 3) Thanks for reading my post

Hi Mr.B,
If Grandmamma didn't know anything about witches, the little boy wouldn't be a mouse, wouldn't have had great stories to listen to and wouldn't have any of the adventures that they have had together at the hotel. If the narrator didn't know anything about the witches and the grand high witch, the story obviously wouldn't be called The Witches and the story wouldn't be as appealing as it really is. If the narrator didn't know that the witches were bald, had a tint of blue in their teeth, had wigs, itched their scalp a lot, wore gloves all the time, always had pointy shoes on, their pupils change color from fire to ice and their nose holes (nostrils) are extra big everyone would be in danger. This book is like a survival guide to keep kids alive from those evil witches that lurk the cities and towns. Hope you found this comment helpful!

Hi Mr.B,
Some things I really admire about the narrator is that he has a really nice outgoing personality and that even as a mouse he will always will think of the positives. He even sounds like he could be one of those boys that are all about the sports, but he thinks about his "friends" first. For example, once Bruno and the boy (narrator) were turned into the mice from the formula, even though the boy doesn't like Bruno, he still helped him survive as a mouse. I also admire that the boy/narrator really cares about getting these witches to taste their own medicine, literally. I really hope this blog is helpful and was very useful! :)

Hi Mr.B,
To trick the witches I would have done the same thing but I would have put the Delayed Action Mouse-Maker in their drinks because it would work more strongly because if it was mixed in all the flavors and spices that was put into the food and with all that put into the meal all that flavor of the formula will wear of, so if you put it into the drinks the witches will definitely will taste/drink the formula. Like I said the witches will definitely get a taste of their own medicine.
I will right more later! Sorry it was so short! ;)

Hi mr.B i'm doing number two. I think when the narrator saw his first witch he would have went down and been bitten by the snake or taken away. Plus he would never gotten the potion and never here'd how to make it either. Thanks for reading my post.

Hi mr.B (question1) I would have tricked the witches by making a distraction just like when his grandma started talking to the grand high witch making a perfect time for me to run away. well if i new that i was about to hide from witches they say that if you are clean you smell like dog droppings and if your dirty they won't smell a thing so i would role around in mud and get so filthy i would be completely safe. and i would have still get lowered down but i would find the bottles and not take 1 and bring it to my room i would role all the bottles out from under the bed I would smash them all and make it so that all the bottles would be destroyed so then they wont be able to use any of them and no more children will turn into mice.

hey mr.b I would tell my grandmother that i have to take a bath before we went to have dinner with the witch's because witch's hate clean little children and they will get very descusted and everyone would know that they are all witches. He would never know to watch out for them in the world. I admire that he is very nice and he so funny he makes my eyes water.

I would have exploited the witch's weakness that they are hiding things about them that would give them away. This would help because it would give them away, because for instance, they would have no toes, and they would have blue saliva.

Hi Mr.B
I am reading the book The Swiss Family Robinson. It is a good book so far. The family so far is on a deserted island. They have been on the island for two days. They have gone looking for food. The kids which are boys went looking for the food. They found sugar cane, coconuts and some lobster. The boys were very excited when they found the sugar cane. They started drinking it. :) :)
I hoped you liked reading a little about the book the Swiss Family Robinson.

If grandma had not told the narrator all about witches I think the narrator probably would have been okay because 1. she could here them talking about themselves and refering to themselves as witches during the meeting but also i think she mite have been done for if she had come down the tree.

Hi Mr.B,
If the narrator's grandma didn't know anything
about the witches, the little boy would be toast.
When he turned in to a mouse, grandma, not knowing anything about witches, would be the same as Bruno's
mother. freaking out ,and denying that that little boy
is her grandson. I think the witches weaknesses would
be their feet. With no toes, it would be hard to catch tiny mice. I'll write more later.

Answer to question 1: the weakness that I would use is the fact that if you are not clean, the witches cannot smell you. The other weakness that I would use, would be the fact that they have blue teeth, and claws, and square feet; and wigs. The third weakness that I would use would be the fact that they think that the children do not know that they are witches, the witches think that all the children think that they are normal women.
I would trick the witches by putting the formula 81 delayed action mouse maker in their food, so they can feel what it is like to be in the shoes (literally) of the children, and maybe then they will fear the narrator.

Hi Mr.B
I am going to do what you told me to and write smaller bogs but more blog .I think that the way i would make a potion is to when they are making the food in the kitchen to put it in the drink when no ones looking because they might make the drinks and then leave them some where and focus on the food so he could put it in then.

Answer to question 2: I think that the narrator would have been "scvashed" by the first witch that he had met in England, when he was building his tree house. I think that the narrator was oblivious to the fact that witches existed, prior to when his grandmamma told him about the witches. I also think that when he got trapped in the ballroom with all of the witches of England, he would have gotten turned into a mouse` a lot sooner if his grandmamma had not told him about their nasty habit of turning children into animals (other animals besides humans, of course), like what happened to Bruno, he never even had the foggiest thoughts of the fact that the witches were witches.

Question 1,
If i had to trick the witches I would run out the door when they unchained it for Bruno. And if that didn't work I would yell for help and say there were witches in the ballroom and they were trying to turn me into a mouse. And i would tell the people to bring lots of bars of soap. And after if i was a mouse i would drink the potion again and see if turned me human.

Well if his grandma didn't tell him about how you can identify a witch then he probably would have never heard all the stuff that the witches said and maybe he wouldn't be alive right now so he should be very thankful for his grandma.

I admire the narrator because he has the most bravery that I have ever seen a realistic character, in that style of book. The narrator has a sense of selflessness that most book characters do not even come close to achieving. In the story he was willing to go into the kitchen, knowing that he might not come back alive, to dump the formula 81 delayed action mousemaker in the witches food, just so he could save all of the other children of England from being turned into mice. Then after the story is over, the narrator and his grandmamma are going to the grand high witch's castle, and use the formula 81 delayed action mousemaker, on the witches. Then after the narrator wipes out the witch organization, the whole witch scheme, then they would get the addresses of all the witches in the world from the grand high witch's address book, and go all around the wold and turn all of the witches into mice, and save the children of the world, from witches, and I think that all of this is very heroic.

Dear Mr.B,
The weakness that I would of played on is their
sense to smell children like dog droppings. I would put
strongly smelling soap(to them) in their food, also the
mouse maker.HOW TO GET IN THE KITCHEN
If I were a tiny mouse, I would escape from
grandmama's purse(handbag)to a crack and try to
find the kitchen.I would get grandmama to distract the chef's and me slip out to get to the witches table a few hours before they get there.I would wait in a safe place
where nobody would look,in an out-of-order bathroom. That way nobody would be able to look
and scream their heads off and reveal my hideout.
Sure, maybe a little unsanitary, but anything to
put the rotten witches in the poor children's(or mice)
shoes.I'd wait until the waiters bring out the food. While grandmama is stalling the chef's, I would run into the restaurant area, onto the table,
(with soap and potion)and sneak it into their food,
also dumping their original drinks on the floor, and replacing it with the soap and mouse maker.Their
drinks will make the floor slippery, so grandmama
can stop stalling them, sit down, catch the narrator and put him in her handbag, acting like nothing happened.
Thank you for reading my blog,
Jillian

PS I can't wait to see the movie :)

Hi Mr.B, WITCHES

1. I would trick the witches with there smell. The witches hate the smell of children so if it comes to that point don't wash your hands or don't take a bath.

2. If Grandmama didn't tell Luke about witches they would be clueless that witches were in the hotel.

3. I think Luke is very brave and he also is smart. He figured out how to get rid of all the witches and he was the one who went in the kitchen too.

what I admire about the narrator is that when he gets turned into a mouse he still doesn't give up and he still try's to defeat the grand high witch and the rest of them not even worrying about him and if he would ever get changed back to a regular child and he actually does it he does actually destroys all the witches and that's what I admire about the narrator.
